Experimental Investigation and Optimization of Fiber Laser Cutting Parameters for Stainless Steel AISI 304

Abstract

The aim of this study is to analyze the effect of selected technological parameters in fiber laser cutting, specifically cutting speed, focal position, and assist gas pressure, on the dimensional and geometrical accuracy of thin stainless steel sheets. An experimental design methodology is applied to determine parameter combinations that reduce deviations from the desired dimensions. Using statistical evaluation and regression modelling, optimal process settings for the given material are established. The findings indicate that cutting speed and focal position play a key role in determining cutting accuracy, while their mutual interaction has a significant impact on process stability. The presented methodology provides a foundation for the systematic optimization of fiber laser cutting conditions.
