Expanding The Functionality of Lathe Toolholders
Abstract
One of the directions for increasing the efficiency of turning is the use of special toolholders with elastic elements. Installation of the cutter with the use of elastic guides or joints provides the following additional possibilities during processing on lathes: micro-positioning of cutter; additional oscillating movements of the cutter for chip crushing or ultrasonic processing; increasing the vibration resistance of the cutting process by changing the position of the main axes of flexibility relative to the direction of the cutting force.
