Abstract
Using a colloquial lexicon in the press activates the „illusion” of orality. This research focuses on the use of expressions from the field of shepherding in the Romanian media. The article started from the premise that pastoral terms in expressions and locutions contribute to the expressiveness of the language of publications, asking whether they are used only in the daily style, as a simple feature of the entertainment function, or if they are also found in other types of media. The media‘s nuanced ability to use these terms was also monitored, following the level of content that journalists have access to, sometimes being specialized terms.
