Abstract
Conceived as an essay with scientific references, the present article aims to debate the changes and new directions in cultural journalism under the impact of mass-communication, digitization and the emergence of social networks. In the first part, the concept of culture, as an object of cultural journalism, is approached phenomenologically, in general considerations, to highlight semantic relativism, the difficulty of conceptual delimitations, as well as the diversity of thematic explorations in the cultural field. In the effort to identify the current orientations in cultural journalism, we propose an integrated approach to the social dimension (sociality), otherwise consubstantial with any cultural phenomenon. One of the conclusions of this article is that the borders between social and cultural journalism, arbitrarily drawn in theoretical approaches, become non-operational in the journalistic practice of alternative journalism that is much more interested in the social dimension of culture(s).
