Palamas in Slavic Orthodoxy: Doctrinal Continuity and Reception as a Hermeneutical Key for East-West Dialogue

This article examines the reception of Gregory Palamas in Slavic Orthodoxy as a hermeneutical key for East–West Christian dialogue. It argues that Palamite theology was preserved not only through formal dogmatic codification but through liturgy, monastic practice, ascetical literature, and later theological synthesis. The Slavic reception of the essence–energies distinction shows how doctrinal continuity may remain stable across cultural and linguistic plurality. The study reassesses Western misreadings of Palamas and proposes reception history as a theological category for contemporary ecumenical reflection.
