| 1986–2010 | Direct support was replaced by reduced postage rates for print media. |
| 2010–2012 | Interim support for the “transformation of the media”. |
| 2013 | The parliament calls the support in the finance bill permanent. |
| 2014 | Media support detained. |
| 2015 | First government statute on media support, providing project support to print and web media (Greenland Self-Government, 2015). |
| 2016 | New government statute providing project support to print and web media along with operational support to print media (Greenland Self-Government, 2016). Later, this scheme became codified in legislation (Parliament, 2016b). |
