Abstract
The current paper aims to present the Hungarian stand-up comedy television show, Showder Klub. As stand-up comedy is fundamentally a live genre, it can be interesting to see how it appears on television. The first Showder Klub performances are interesting for another reason as well: for most of the performers, it is the first, and for some, it is also the last television appearance. The Showder Klub, which started in the spring of 2008, is the longest-running and most important among the Hungarian stand-up comedy shows. This study presents its operation and characteristics based on several interviews. My goal is to conduct a content analysis on the first performances of the performers in the first 15 seasons of the show, to examine, among other things, the ways in which they are introduced, the topics they mention, and how they engage the audience.
