Degradation of Mordant Blue 9 by BDD/TiO2 photoelectrode using 3D printed photoreactor

Abstract

This work investigates boron-doped diamond (BDD) / TiO2 heterostructure photoelectrodes for the degradation of the organic dye Mordant Blue 9. The combination of BDD and TiO2 enables enhanced photoelectrocatalytic activity under UV irradiation. The electrodes were characterized using scanning electron microscopy and Raman spectroscopy. Electrochemical behavior was studied using linear sweep voltammetry under UV illumination. The degradation efficiency was evaluated with and without applied bias voltage. Results demonstrate successful degradation of Mordant Blue 9 and a significant improvement in degradation rate when both UV irradiation and external potential are applied. The study confirms the suitability of BDD/TiO2 structures for advanced water treatment applications.
