Abstract

This paper evaluates the effectiveness of forest pedagogy as an informational forest policy instrument. The object of our study was the forest pedagogy activity – project “LESU ZDAR” targeted at high school students. Combining document analysis and semi-structured interviews, we analysed the perceived effectiveness of the project’s primary goals by all involved actors – students, teachers and forest pedagogues. Forest pedagogy was considered highly effective in enhancing pedagogic activities as a curricular enrichment, raising awareness and encouraging civic engagement among all project participants. However, its influence on career orientation was limited, as the percentage of students considering a forestry-related profession dropped post-project. Individual actors also perceived a lower level of effectiveness in influencing students’ attitudes toward forestry.
