The Migration Crisis and EU Migration Policy as a Means of Resolving Migration Issues in Selected European Union Countries

Abstract

Subject and purpose of work

This paper concerns international migration. Its aim is to present an overview of immigration to European Union countries, define the essence of the European migration crisis, outline European migration policy, and describe how migration issues are addressed in selected countries.

Materials and methods

The work is of a review nature, based on literature on the subject and information materials from specialized institutions.

Results

Presents an overview of contemporary migration processes, the benefits and challenges for countries of origin and destination, a description of the 21st-century migration crisis, the evolution of migration policy in the European Union, and the course of the migration crisis in three selected member states.

Conclusions

An analysis of the migration crisis in Poland, Germany, and Italy, an attempt was made to outline migration models, determine the costs and benefits of the influx of people to Europe from Africa and Asia, and make recommendations aimed at mitigating the adverse effects of immigration.
