The ongoing expansion of metropolitan regions, driven by population growth and urbanization, need professional infrastructure building, planning, and service administration. This study presents a geographic information system (GIS)-based approach for detecting shortcomings in current services in Hosseinia City, Baghdad’s northern sector. The created GIS model includes several tests to evaluate its efficacy and suggest areas for further study. The simplified workflow enabled by these technologies is crucial for government agencies and institutions. The primary purpose of the paper is to create, deploy, and verify GIS-based tools for evaluating urban areas based on predefined criteria. Hosseinia City, being one of Baghdad’s largest residential areas with a substantial population, serves as the focal point of this investigation. The study employs both remote sensing data and field data, utilizing imagery scenes acquired from the Word View (WV3) 2021. These datasets facilitate the generation of a comprehensive land use map for the area. The proposed models were implemented by python programming of Arc GIS software, providing a valuable toolkit for urban development initiatives.
