Abstract

The authors of this article examine the increasingly widespread use of artificial intelligence tools and analyze the essence of their application in forensics. The implementation of AI raises fundamental questions regarding the nature of forensic cognition, the role of the investigator, and the transformation of professional competencies. In assessing the intersection between artificial intelligence and forensics, the article explores whether AI can fully replace human actions and whether it functions merely as an auxiliary tool or fundamentally transforms forensic methodology. The purpose of the article is to evaluate the challenges and prospects associated with the use of artificial intelligence in forensics. The authors analyze the main challenges and opportunities of AI application in forensics and assess its impact on forensic didactics, including the development of investigators’ (criminalists’) competencies.
