Abstract
This article indicates specific causes and initiators of damages and potential disasters in power grids and installations, as well as methods of their prevention, in Bosnia and Herzegovina and its neighbouring area. It points out the delay in transposition and implementation of European technical and safety directives in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Especially, failure in application of the explosion protection directives (so called Atex-95 and -137) can cause new mining and technological disasters.
