Abstract

Learning about and assessing any airway-related issues is crucial for each patient who comes to the orthodontic office. An essential part of the decision-making process should be assessing the impact of orthodontic treatment on the upper airway's dimensions. There is strong evidence that various therapeutic techniques, including RME, functional jaw orthopaedics, and especially maxillomandibular advancement treatments, have positive associations and effects on airway-related problems. In this review article, we have tried to give a comprehensive description of the various methods for assessing the airway and its clinical consequences in orthodontics. An essential part of the decision-making process should be assessing the impact of orthodontic treatment on the upper airway's dimensions.
