The article presents research on selected border regions. The Carpathian Region in Central Europe constitutes a critical and familiar environment in nature, society, economy, culture, and recreation. The research examines the primary connections, conditions, and potential of areas. It considers, in general, tourism attractions, natural and cultural values, heritage, accommodation facilities, public transport, and services. The results present several GIS analyses and other research methods. The discussion describes the main vectors of development related to several aspects of spa, sport, recreation, culture, spirituality, and entertainment. That led to the hypothetical ideas of enhancing the regional spatial and functional tourism development, which could increase borderlands’ and associated regions’ values, including new services and urban renewal. That might bring an opportunity to generate a common structure of recreational facilities and preserve more of the natural landscapes and the authenticity of heritage. Conclusions summarize the vision of hypothetical vectors leading to development enhancement based on tourism and recreation, as well as their potential impact.
