This volume is a definitive contribution to the historiography of antifascism in Latin America. Editors Sandra McGee Deutsch and Jorge A. Nállim argue that antifascist movements in Latin America have been understudied and have often been viewed as marginal to European antifascism, and the works that have discussed antifascism in the region have focused on European émigrés rather than Latin Americans themselves. The contributors to this book detail the ways Latin Americans have resisted fascism in their own national context; as Deutsch and Nállim write, the contributors “focus on locals . . . and on appropriations, resignifications, and transformations in local and regional contexts.” The book brings a sharp focus on gender and ethnicity.

Este tomo es una contribución definitiva a la historiografía del antifascismo en América Latina. Los editores Sandra McGee Deutsch y Jorge A. Nállim sostienen que los movimientos antifascistas en América Latina han sido poco estudiados y a menudo considerados marginales respecto al antifascismo europeo, y las obras que han tratado el antifascismo en la región se han centrado en los emigrados europeos más que en los  latinoamericanos. Los colaboradores de este libro detallan las formas en que los latinoamericanos han resistido el fascismo en su propio contexto nacional; como escriben Deutsch y Nállim, los colaboradores "se centran en los locales . . . y en las apropiaciones, resignificaciones y transformaciones en contextos locales y regionales.” El libro pone un enfoque agudo en el género y la etnia.
