| Analysis of the coding tree from Phase 1 led us to adopt theoretical concepts from critical media studies (i.e., framing and agenda-setting) and methodological cues from Roe’s (1994) work on narrative policy analysis (NPA) (i.e., dominant, counter-, and nonstories) to inform the development and presentation of our research findings. We refined the research questions to reflect these theoretical and methodological frameworks, i.e., How is engineering framed in the public discourse? And, what dominant, counter-, and nonstories shape the ways in which we collectively understand, and seek to address, the problem of an apparent general lack of interest in engineering, and the very real lack of diversity, in engineering? | |||
