Abstract
It has taken a while, but here we are, back with another volume of articles on some communication cultures from the African context. The volume comes at an opportune time, as developments in the mediascape present pressing challenges for both the academy and the media and communication industries. The digitalisation of media operations is one of such. This is important for its far- reaching changes to how media and communication are construed, namely, the dissemination and reception of messages. These call for new skills, revisions to the curriculum, a review of audience behaviours, and strategies to engage audiences in meaningful ways that will foster the required changes in social life and policies to undergird them. You will find the papers in this volume address these issues.
