Abstract
The article considers how the American streaming platform Netflix redefines the representation of the national English past to a transnational context. It states that Netflix applies its own stylistic and aesthetic codes to create a vision of the English Regency era. The comparative analysis of the series Bridgerton with the latest adaptation Persuasion will shed light on the influence of seriality over film adaptation in a transnational context of production and distribution. It will underline how this process redefines the aesthetic treatment of a period drama, which induces a redefinition of Englishness.
