Les pratiques éditoriales en traduction : Étude comparée de trois appareils péritextuels de Petit pays de Gaël Faye

This article examines editorial practices through a comparative analysis of three translations (Danish, Dutch and Swedish) of an international bestseller. Drawing on the theory of cultural transfers and the sociology of translation, the study considers the strategies and functions of editorial packaging in the case of a bestseller. The main editorial procedures are described using the concepts of « resemantization » (Espagne) and « isomorphism » (Franssen & Kuipers). Although the three peritexts all possess distinctive traits which set them apart in themselves, it is also shown how the three publishers use very different writing practices to position the writer locally and internationally. The paper ends by suggesting that the concept of « glocalization » (Damrosh) allows us to describe the resemantization processes at work in the three editorial peritexts.

Résumé

À partir d’une étude du péritexte éditorial de trois traductions nord-européennes (danoise, néerlandaise et suédoise) d’un bestseller international, cet article examine les pratiques éditoriales à l’œuvre. Prenant appui sur des concepts relevant du cadre des transferts culturels et de la sociologie de la traduction, cette étude a pour finalité de mettre en valeur les différentes modalités et fonctions de l’emballage éditorial dans le cas d’un bestseller. Cet article propose de recourir au terme de resémantisation (Espagne) et d’ « isomorphisme » (de Franssen & Kuipers) pour décrire les principaux procédés éditoriaux utilisés. Si certaines singularités transparaissent entre ces trois péritextes, cette étude fait aussi apparaître comment les éditeurs mobilisent des pratiques d’écriture divergentes pour positionner l’écrivain ou l’œuvre aux niveaux local et international. Cette contribution s’achève en proposant une réflexion autour du phénomène de « glocalisation » (Damrosh) pour caractériser les resémantisations à l’œuvre dans le cas de trois péritextes éditoriaux.
