Introduction aux Humanités bleues. Lire et penser la littérature avec la mer

Les Blue Humanities sont un champ émergent de la recherche en littérature qui explore les interactions entre culture et environnement marin. Elles prennent pour point de départ le décentrement de notre regard sur la culture par l’adoption d’une perspective océano-centrée. Examinant l’océan comme un lieu physique ainsi que comme un espace culturel, politique et social, elles se placent sous le signe de l’interdisciplinarité et du croisement de la pluralité des savoirs sur l’océan. Cet article propose de resémantiser les Blue Humanities en Humanités bleues et de mobiliser la pensée de Michel Serres pour poser un premier ancrage des Humanités bleues dans la recherche francophone, autour d’un quadruple cadre épistémologique, ontologique, éthique et critique. En tant qu’outil critique, les Humanités bleues suscitent de nouvelles lectures, comme les lectures fractales et les lectures amphibies, en plongée dans les textes ainsi qu’à des jeux d’échelles dans les niveaux de lecture qui invitent à prendre les mondes océaniques comme de nouvelles catégories de l’historiographie littéraire.

Abstract

Blue Humanities is an emerging field of literary studies that explores the interactions between culture and the marine environment. It takes as its starting point the decentring of our view of culture by adopting an ocean-centric perspective. Examining the ocean as a physical place as well as a cultural, political and social space, it is placed under the sign of interdisciplinarity and criss-crossing of the plurality of knowledge on the ocean. This article proposes to draw on the thinking of Michel Serres to establish an initial foundation for the Blue Humanities in Francophone research field, based on a fourfold epistemological, ontological, ethical and critical framework. As a critical tool, it will invite new readings such as fractal readings and amphibious readings by diving into the texts, as well as games of scale in levels of reading in which oceanic worlds can be taken as new categories of literary historiography.
