Abstract
Morocco, like other countries in the Maghreb, has a linguistic specificity with the hesitation between several official languages that are recognized and used. This situation should be called « polyglossia » rather than diglossia ; however, the diglossia should be distinguished from bilingualism (Kilito, 2013) and from the notion of bilangue expressed by Khatibi. This issue is linked to an identity concern that the first generation of Francophone writers has questioned many times, it will be covered in the first part of the article with the journal Souffles. The following generation, whose writings have been popular thanks to the attribution of Parisian literary prizes (Ben Jelloun, Laroui, etc.), used the French language and perceived it not only as a language of diffusion but above all as the result of an education where it has a main place. With the essay The Moroccan Linguistic Drama (Laroui, 2011), the place of the French language in the World Literature will be analyzed as well as the cultural and professional path that it can be for the Moroccan youth. It implies to address the difficulties of teaching French in Moroccan schools.
