Abstract

The long term goal of life management program of boiler pressure parts is to eliminate the outages and ensure safe operation of these equipments. Two nondestructive techniques Low Frequency Electromagnetic Testing (LFET) and Ultrasonic Testing (UT), which are mainly used in the USA, were chosen in collaboration with EPRI. LFET is used for detection of critical blockages in tube bends due to exfoliation and UT is used for measuring total thickness of oxide layer. Ultrasonic Technique is only applicable to ferritic materials. A modified method of eddy currents (ET) will be used to determine the thickness of epitaktické layer on austenitic steels.
