CAD at the Intersection of Cardiology and Rheumatology: Focus on Cardiovascular Imaging
Abstract
Patients with autoimmune rheumatologic diseases (ARDs) exhibit an elevated risk for atherosclerosis, not fully accounted for by traditional risk factors alone. This review aims to explore how advanced multimodality cardiovascular imaging techniques can provide critical insights into the shared inflammatory pathways that contribute to endothelial damage and the development of atherosclerotic coronary artery disease. By highlighting the diagnostic potential and future applications of these techniques, we aim to provide a comprehensive overview for clinicians and researchers.
