Abstract

Abstract

Money laundering is an unscrupulous, cross-border crime, with multiple perpetrators. The crime is not restricted to the street, making white-collar criminals guilty. Laundering money is a multi-tiered process, due to this complexity, ascertaining who is liable for which crime is a strenuous task. Money Laundering is detrimental to national security. In light of that, the research will deal with whether Sri Lanka’s present legal regime is adequate to combat and mitigate money laundering and inquire whether current anti-money laundering laws can ensure the national security of Sri Lanka. Research is secondary research, where existing sources are perused and analyzed strategically. Research has attempted to prove that money laundering is a saboteur of national security. Consequently, research has provided recommendations.
