For reviewers

Peer review is usually single-blinded, but can be double-blinded or open (on reviewer’s request). We value your time and expertise and appreciate your contribution to scientific excellence.

Our main goal is to get your honest opinion about the value of the manuscript being reviewed in terms of its contribution to current knowledge. Besides checking that research is scientifically sound, we would appreciate your input about how well structured and presented the research/subject at hand is. One of the most important questions the authors should answer is why they think doing the study was important and why their findings are important.

As you compile the peer review, you may find the following questions useful to answer:

1. Does the title adequately reflect the subject of the manuscript?

2. Does the abstract give all necessary information about the background, results and conclusions?

3. Does the introduction provide a sufficient and comprehensive description of the problem, supported by an accurate literature review and a clearly stated hypothesis?

4. Are the methods (including statistical analysis) clearly presented?

5. What are your comments on the quality of presentation and the overall scientific merit of the manuscript?

6. Are tables and figures intelligible without reference to the text?

7. Does the discussion and interpretation of the results appropriately address the limitations of the study?

8. Are conclusions firmly based on the results?

9. Does the manuscript include up-to-date references?
