For reviewers
Reviewers play an essential role in maintaining the scientific quality, integrity and relevance of manuscripts published in Radiology and Oncology.
Reviewers are asked to provide an objective, constructive and timely assessment of the manuscript. They should evaluate the manuscript according to the journal’s aims and scope, scientific originality, methodological quality, ethical compliance, clarity of presentation and relevance to the field.
Reviewers should consider the following aspects, where applicable:
- importance and suitability of the topic for the journal;
- clarity and structure of the abstract;
- appropriateness of the study design and methods;
- adequacy of statistical analysis;
- validity of the results and conclusions;
- quality and relevance of figures, images and tables;
- adequacy and currency of the cited references;
- clarity of language and presentation;
- compliance with ethical and reporting standards.
Reviewers should provide confidential comments to the editor and constructive comments intended for the authors. Reviewer comments should be clear, evidence-based and respectful.
Reviewers must declare any real, potential or perceived conflicts of interest. If a reviewer cannot provide an independent and objective assessment, they should decline the review invitation.
Submitted manuscripts, reviewer reports and editorial correspondence must be treated as confidential. Reviewers must not use unpublished material from the manuscript for their own research or personal advantage.
Reviewers must not upload submitted manuscripts, unpublished data or confidential editorial material to artificial intelligence tools or other external systems that do not guarantee confidentiality.
Reviewer recommendations are advisory. The final editorial decision is made by the Editor-in-Chief or the responsible editor.
