For reviewers
All peer review activities at JESM are conducted by independent external experts. Reviewers are selected based on their subject-area expertise and are required to declare any conflicts of interest.
Reviewers are expected to:
– maintain strict confidentiality of the manuscript and its contents;
– provide an objective, thorough, and constructive written evaluation;
– complete the review within 4–6 weeks of assignment;
– declare any conflict of interest that might affect the impartiality of the review.
Reviewers should assess: scientific quality and originality; appropriateness of methodology; clarity and organisation of the manuscript; relevance of citations; and validity of conclusions.
Reviewing for JESM is unpaid. The journal recognises the contribution of reviewers to the quality of its publication.
