The journal publishes original research articles, review papers, and short communications focusing on forest ecology and related environmental sciences. Its primary aim is to advance scientific understanding of ecological processes, patterns, and interactions within forest ecosystems and other terrestrial ecosystems where trees, shrubs, and herbaceous vegetation occur.
The scope of the journal includes, but is not limited to:
- forest ecology and ecosystem functioning
- biodiversity, species interactions, and community ecology
- ecosystem processes, productivity, and nutrient cycling
- forest dynamics, disturbance ecology, and succession
- conservation biology and nature conservation
- environmental change, climate change impacts, and ecosystem resilience
- ecological restoration and sustainable ecosystem management
- landscape ecology and spatial ecological processes
- applied ecology and ecological monitoring
- methodological advances relevant to ecological research.
The journal welcomes studies from all geographic regions and encourages interdisciplinary approaches that contribute to ecological theory, methodological development, and evidence-based management and conservation practices. Manuscripts should clearly identify a knowledge gap and demonstrate how the presented findings advance understanding of ecological systems, processes, or management challenges. Submissions undergo independent peer review by at least two reviewers.
The journal is intended for researchers, practitioners, and policymakers working in ecology, environmental sciences, forestry, biodiversity conservation, and related disciplines.
