All papers submitted for publication in the Economics and Business Review are independently and anonymously reviewed in the double-blind reviewing procedure, which
consists of the following steps:

1. The paper is initially reviewed by the members of the EBR Editorial Board;

2. They determine the compliance of the submitted paper with the “Aims and Scope” of the EBR, make a preliminary assessment of its academic level and check the submitted manuscript with anti-plagiarism software. If a positive decision is made at this stage, the Editorial Board seeks for reviewers to evaluate the submission;

3. To each paper pre-selected in such a way, at least two reviewers are assigned, often more, with at least one coming from an external institution. The double-blind review process is applied. This means that neither the authors nor the reviewers know each other’s identities;

4. Double-blind reviews are prepared by specialists from scientific centres to which the authors of the article in question are not affiliated;

5. The review is a written document that ends with a definite decision as to whether the article should be:
• published as submitted;
• published after minor revisions by the authors as outlined in comments;
• returned to the authors for major revisions as outlined in the comments and then submitted for re-review;
• rejected entirely in its present form (in such cases, the paper cannot be re-submitted to the EBR);

6. Based on the double-blind reviews, the Editorial Board either rejects the paper or requires changes to be introduced. In both cases, the text of the reviews, together with editorial comments, is sent to the corresponding author;

7. If the Editorial Board has invited the corresponding author to introduce changes, he or she is required to send back the corrected manuscript in two versions: with tracked changes and a clean copy, along with the responses to the reviews and editorial comments, within the proposed deadline, which depends on the number of changes required;

8. If the reviewers have demanded major revisions, the corrected manuscript is sent back to them for a re-review;

9. If the initial paper’s reviews were mixed, but the Editorial Board asked the authors to correct the submission, the paper is sent to an additional reviewer after these changes are introduced;

10. Based on all opinions gathered in the first and second round of reviews, the Editorial Board takes its final decision on whether or not to publish the paper;

11. If the paper is accepted for publication in the EBR, it is sent to the English-language editor for linguistic inspection and to the proofreader to check compliance with the style guidelines. The corresponding author is expected to react to their comments as soon as possible;

12. In the final stage, proofs are sent to the corresponding author for a final check. At that stage, any corrections should be restricted to type-settings errors only.
