Probiotics have been suggested to be involved in both prevention and treatment of various human cancers. Probiotics in Anticancer Immunity is the third volume in the Frontiers in Cancer Immunology series. The volume explains biochemical mechanisms of anticancer immunity exerted by probiotics in various human cancers. It presents edited chapters focused on the evidence of probiotic use against human cancers through several animal and human studies.
The book (in two parts) consists of 22 chapters. The initial introductory chapters provide information about the link between gut microbiota and the host immune system in cancer and the general mechanisms of anticancer immunity exerted by probiotics. Subsequent chapters are focused on probiotics’ anticancer immunity in specific cancer conditions such as, skin cancer, stomach cancer, breast cancer and more. The concluding chapters of the volume deal with the recent emerging concepts of prebiotics, postbiotics and probiotics as adjuvants in developing anticancer immunity. In addition, the specific probiotic formulation strategies used in certain cancers are discussed along with the future perspectives and challenges in the field of probiotic based therapeutics for cancers.
