She has conducted ethnographic research extensively on migration-related topics and her research has focused on diaspora mobilisation, transnational connections and activities, second generation and questions of identity and belonging. Her work has been published e.g. in Ethnic and Racial Studies, Ethnicities, Social Inclusion, Journal of Genocide Research and Nordic Journal of Migration Research. She has co-edited the volumes Methodological approaches in Kurdish Studies (Lexington) and Undoing Homogeneity in the Nordic Region (Routledge) and is the co-editor of the book series Transnationalism and Diaspora by the Edinburgh University Press.
