From archives to transmedia storytelling: new insights
The proceedings of the interdisciplinary conference "Women’s Narratives and European Integration History" is the official publication of the international event organized on 20 and 21 April 2023 at the University of Luxembourg in connection with the multiannual research project "The role of women in European and international relations in Luxembourg (after the Second World War)", developed by the University of Luxembourg, the Luxembourg Centre for Contemporary and Digital History C²DH) and Europe Direct at the University of Luxembourg (ED-UNILU). The selected articles included in the Proceedings are authored by outstanding scholars from various universities and interdisciplinary research centres in Germany, France, Norway, Italy, Belgium, Greece, Turkey, Poland, the UK, and Luxembourg, as well as the European University Institute (EUI) and the Historical Archives of the European Union in Florence. Their papers are aimed at: fostering excellence and originality in the treatment of the subject, contributing with new inter- and multidisciplinary insights to theories, methodologies, and approaches related to the history of women in Europe in the 20th and 21st centuries, highlighting gendered perspectives and issues related to European democracy, rights, policies, institutions and actors, and promoting digital methods and tools in developing and sharing new knowledge of the past. Careful consideration has been given to the emergence of new sources (oral history) and multimedia storytelling through the biographies of individual women involved in the development and implementation of the European project; the crystallization of the "female lobby" and how groups and networks developed their influence, political presence and visibility in Europe; the role of women in the East-West intercultural dialogue and the EU’s enlargement; the relationship between women and Euroscepticism.
