Correction
The article “Enhancing Awareness of Moral Residue Through Literature: What Are the Underlying Mechanisms?” (Alexandri et al., 2026) contained an error in the interpretation of the effect of condition (fiction vs nonfiction paratexts) on transportation.
While the statistical analyses were conducted correctly, the direction of the effect was misinterpreted in the text. The correct result indicates that participants in the fiction condition reported higher transportation than those in the nonfiction condition (M_fiction = 0.66; M_nonfiction = 0.34), consistent with a negative regression coefficient (b = –0.28, z = –2.17, p = .03, β = –.11).
This error affects the description of this result and a part of the discussion concerning the role of fiction versus nonfiction paratexts. The corrected interpretation indicates that fiction labelling, rather than nonfiction labelling, is associated with higher transportation.
This correction does not affect the main conclusions of the study, including the absence of differences in PSMR across conditions and the role of transportation as a key predictor.
