Abstract
The introduction of the freedom of information legislation in Switzerland represents a true paradigm shift. However, an analysis of today’s situation shows that the expected impact of this legislation needs to be put into perspective. On one hand, there is still some resistance by public authorities as well as legal obstacles; on the other hand there are several other ways to gain information in Switzerland, besides the freedom of information legislation. These factors, among others, might explain the initial reluctance to apply this legislation.
