Abstract
[Tree Representations. A Critical Review and Suggestions]
This review is devoted to the analysis of tree representation; hierarchical clustering and linear seriation are presented as special cases. For each type of tree, examples, properties and algorithms are given or evoked. Finally, representation of ordinal data is discussed. New suggestions are made.
