Enrichment of the C-CLAMP Corpus

This paper describes the augmentation of C-CLAMP (Piersoul et al., 2021), a diachronic corpus comprised of 47,738 Dutch literary and cultural journal articles written between 1837 and 1999 in Flanders and the Netherlands. The augmentation has two components. First, existing metadata was standardised and substantially enriched through integration of multiple external sources, adding biographical, geographical, gender, and social-class information for 8,753 authors. Second, we constructed a weighted, directed, citation-based author network capturing both citations and co-authorship. This enhancement is aimed at extending the corpus’s applicability beyond purely diachronic analyses to include sociolinguistic research.
