Abstract
Background:
The Children, Young People and Families Special Interest Group (CYF SIG) was launched at the IFIC International Conference on Integrated Care (ICIC18) in Utrecht in May 2018 as a response to the need to bring together health, education and social care professionals who are interested in aspects of integrated health and social care as it applies to children, young people and their families.
Following the launch, the inaugural CYF SIG member meeting was held via videoconference in September 2018, with a second face-to-face meeting held at the IFIC International Foundation for Integrated Care (ICIC19) in San Sebastian in April 2019.
The goals of the CYF SIG are to:
• Build a broad global network
• Establish a community website
• Link with other global networks focused on integrated care for children, young people and their families
• Define, scope and publish a position paper on integrated health and social care as it applies to children, young people and their families
• Provide opportunities for collaboration on shared research projects
• Develop and/or share and promote appropriate outcome measures and evaluation frameworks
• Share successes and lessons-learnt
• Meet during the various conferences on integrated care
Outcomes to date:
The number of CYF SIG members is over 90, working and living in 15 countries around the world. A piece of work has begun in identifying other global networks. An initial focus was to determine the interests of SIG members, and a survey of the SIG members was conducted to determine topics of most interest in the context of children, young people and families. As such, three sub-groups were formed: ‘Health and education interface’, ‘Health and social care interface’, and ‘Early years’. These were formed to allow CYF SIG members to share resources and network about their targeted interests within the field of child, youth and family integrated care. The sub-groups have had mixed responses and may not continue in the format they currently are. This reflects on the groups agility to recognise and address needs as they are identified.
Aims and objectives of the workshop:
• Conduct formal CYF SIG member meeting
o Provide an update on scoping of global networks and sub-groups
o Promote and discuss international mapping exercise of innovations in integrated care, and opportunities for case studies
• Discuss next steps for the CYF SIG
Format:
A formal meeting with defined agenda, followed by working group to discuss and workshop next steps for the CYF SIG.
