
Development of Machine Learning algorithms to predict delays in discharge of home care clients undergoing general medical and surgery procedures in acute hospitals

Abstract
Delayed discharge from acute care facilities, also termed alternate level care (ALC), is an important issue for healthcare systems. Therefore, we decided to develop machine (ML) algorithms to predict ALC status among home care clients who subsequently require acute hospital admission for general medicine or surgery.
