Abstract
The Here Toitū service supports those with health-related conditions or disability find and maintain meaningful work, study, or volunteering experiences. In the Mid-Central region of Aotearoa New Zealand, it is delivered in partnership between THINK Hauora (Primary Health Organisation) and the Ministry of Social Development (MSD, a government organisation) requiring cross-organisation navigation of systems and team dynamics. The teams across the organisations were introduced to Liberating Structures (LS) to identify challenges and solutions, resulting in clarified purpose and process, strengthened collaboration for kaimahi (staff) and enhanced integrated care for those they work with. The liberating structures are valuable strategies for engaging teams to identify what matters most and elevate their strengths and knowledge to enhance processes and practices. Through the use of these novel techniques, The Here Toitu service has strengthened team dynamics and shifted towards a whānau (family/person) centred approach as a cohesive team.
