Abstract
The purpose of the workshop will be to highlight cross-sector collaborations between Industry, patient organisations, voluntary and community sector, and healthcare systems to discuss the opportunities and challenges in replicating and scaling examples of initiatives that have demonstrated support for the delivery of healthcare priorities, as well as improving patient outcomes, facilitating more efficient use of resources and reducing health inequalities across the UK.
Often, this positive contribution made by such partnerships are not easily communicated or accessible to key stakeholders, the workshop will be an opportunity to discuss how to overcome this as well as signposting to the ABPI Joint-Working Repository and the current frameworks in place to facilitate and ease Industry partnerships for example the Health and Social Care Industry Partnership (HSCIP) in Northern Ireland, and MOUs in Birmingham and Manchester.
The workshop is aimed at healthcare leaders, patient organisations and Industry representatives who seek to deliver measurable improvements in outcomes through effective, trusted partnerships. The workshop will show the current mechanisms in place to allow this to happen and the networks that exist to progress potential initiatives.
The format of the workshop is proposed over a 90-minute period and will be a combination of coherent and concise PowerPoint presentations focusing on three examples of cross sector collaborations and frameworks, demonstrating how they have produced higher quality patient outcomes, reduced health inequalities and driven efficiencies. Following presentations, workshop attendees will be asked to consider and discuss three questions to collate current challenges and opportunities towards partnerships. A transcriber will be present at each table to capture and feedback the discussion points. Following the workshop, the comments will be developed into an evaluation paper for consideration by appropriate stakeholders.
