Abstract
Summary: Integrated care models aim to deliver tailored, coordinated and linked care at system, service, and patient levels. The next generation of students, academics, researchers and practitioners are essential in shaping the healthcare systems of tomorrow.
Since its’ inception in 2018, ERPIC has mobilised about 500 followers, working and studying in about 33 countries around the world and promoted opportunities to engage these early researchers and professionals in the field of integrated care. Accordingly, the aim of this workshop is to provide an opportunity for these followers to contribute to the future plans and activities of ERPIC and to network with peers.
A survey from March 2018 determined members most wanted activities and topics. The ERPIC Executive team wants to find out whether these needs are still relevant or what the new needs are together with the desire to increase social capital (career, research, and collaboration opportunities).
Background: ERPIC was launced to foster interdisciplinary knowledge exchange, building connections and enabling mentorships for emerging researchers and professionals in the integrated care community. ERPIC will achieve this by increasing the presence of emerging researchers and professionals in the integrated care community and developing research skills, inter-professional competencies and networking opportunities.
Aims and objectives of the meeting: The aims of this interactive workshop activity are to:
- Meet other early career researchers and professionals in integrated care
- Discover who to get to know further
- Discover who works on the same theme/sector
- Practice networking (getting to know people and quickly assessing whether to further contact)
- Receive updates on current ERPIC activities
- Share ideas about the future of ERPIC
Target audience: This workshop is designed for current ERPIC-network followers, and any emerging researchers and professionals in the integrated care field interested in joining a supportive network.
Senior members of IFIC, professionals in the field of integrated care and participants of ICIC22 who are interested in meeting ERPIC-members, are welcome to participate.

Format: The workshop starts with a 5 min introduction, followed by a 10 min preparation and information about the workshop. Participants will be divided in groups and have the opportunity to get to know each other and familiarize during a 30 min network session. This will be followed by a co-design session where each group will work together to brainstorm about early career researchers and professionals’ needs and how they can be addressed. Together, the group will create a mindmap with suggested aims and activities for ERPIC. The session finishes with a 15 minute group presentation and summary.
Learnings/Take away: Participants will:
- Create new contacts and start building/expanding a network
- Get insights on early career researchers and professionals’ needs and activities to develop themselves within the field
- Gain an overview of activities of ERPIC
- Have the opportunity to influence the future direction and activities of ERPIC
