Abstract
Summary (Core aim of the workshop): Are you curious about how behavioural aspects influence collaboration in integrated care? Are you up for both an insightful and a fun experience? Then you are at the right place!
In this workshop participants play a simulation game that enables them to experience the influence of behavioural aspects in integrated care.
The role-playing simulation game has its foundations in organizational behaviour theory and has been developed based on experiences in multiple integrated care settings.
Participants will learn through experience (experiential learning) about the role of behaviour in integrated care collaboration.
Background: Over the past years, a lot of knowledge about so-called functional aspects of integrated care has been developed. Examples are funding, pooled budgets and organizational models. However, given that the core of integrated care thinking is about people working together, we believe that the behaviour of people deserves more attention.
Aims and Objectives: This workshop will provide insights into the behavioural aspects of integrated care by experiential learning. After welcoming the participants and introducing the broader topic, the facilitators will moderate a role-playing simulation game with all participants. The game will be played in pairs. By playing the simulation game, participants will experience how behaviour plays a role in collaboration in integrated care. After playing in pairs, the experiences of the participants will be discussed in plenary. Thereafter, reflections based on organizational and integrated care theory will be made. The workshop will end with some practical learnings and takeaways.
Target audience: This workshop will be of interest to professionals, team leaders and managers seeking to learn more about the role of behaviour in integrated care collaboration, by playing a simulation game. Researchers will also find this workshop interesting as we present theoretical insights and reflections.
Facilitators / speakers (names and roles): The workshop will be facilitated by two facilitators:
- Facilitator 1: Prof. Henk Nies, PhD (Vilans, Centre of Expertise in Long-Term Care, the Netherlands / Organization Sciences, VU University Amsterdam, the Netherlands)
Role: Chair, introduction, theoretical reflections.
- Facilitator 2: Nick Zonneveld MSc. (Vilans, Centre of Expertise in Long-Term Care, the Netherlands / Department of Organization Studies, Tilburg University, The Netherlands)
Role: Role playing simulation game moderator, reflections.
