Abstract

Patronage health care is a medical and social activity with the purpose of promoting and preserving the health of the individual, family and community where they live, work, study and play. Patronage health care is provided by nursing bachelors within the Community Health Centers, making them an integral part of primary health care. That kind of work takes place in the family and community, with the maximum participation of users. The principles underlying such work are: professionalism determined by implemented work standards, a holistic approach to customer care, family care and community focus, preventive action, systematic, logical problem-solving through the nursing care process, partnership and a multidisciplinary approach.

A big part of the patronage nurse's job is the preventative and health education work on which this paper is based. During a visiting of a pregnant woman and a newborn baby, a toddler, a preschool and school-aged child, the patronage nurse informs and educates parents, children, the whole family about everything that is important during this period, attaches importance to certain things, places emphasis on them so that the problem does not develop. Developed communication skills as well as having a large amount of knowledge are important in the patronage nurse work.
