Warunki Termiczne we Lwowie (1951–2023) Cover

Abstract

The aim of the study is to determine the changes in air temperature in Lviv from 1951 to 2023 and their significance in the context of climate change in western Ukraine. Data were sourced from meteorological observations at Danylo Halytskyi International Airport in Lviv. The Mann-Kendall test was used to detect trends, and Sen’s method estimated the rate of air temperature change. Additionally, selected indicators assessed the degree of climate continentality and its temporal variability in Lviv. Results reveal a statistically significant increase in annual mean air temperature of 0.31°C per decade, with pronounced warming in spring and summer. The number of frost days is decreased, while hot days and warm nights have become more frequent. Despite rising air temperatures, no significant changes in climate continentality were observed. These trends align with ongoing climate warming in Central Europe and may impact urban functionality and residents’ thermal comfort.
