This paper aims to provide conceptual and empirical literature on green human resource practices and environmental performance of firms. The paper adopted conceptual and theoretical approaches to achieving its objective. This was done by critically reviewing extant literature on green human resource practices and environmental performance of firms. Based on the review of extant literature, it was observed that green human resource practices stimulate the environmentally sustainable performance of firms. The paper identified research gaps for future studies based on the methodological gaps of extant studies identified. It is recommended that the link between green human resource practices such as green recruitment and selection, green performance appraisal, green compensation and benefits, and green training and development and the environmentally sustainable performance of oil firms in Nigeria should be further explore.
