
Utilization of electronic resources of National Library by undergraduate students
Abstract
National Library of Sri Lanka insists with large collection of quantitatively and qualitatively. Most of users are visiting the National Library for their research work and study purpose. This study examines the utilization of electronic resources of National Library by undergraduate students. This study focused a sample of 100 undergraduate students from four universities and structured questionnaires were used to collect data form the undergraduate students. The study reveals that majority of university students unaware about electronic resources available in the National Library. However, most of them were aware, how to use various electronic resources for their academic activities. The study indicated that most of the students accessed search engines to get information and they do not have awareness in using OPAC of National Library. There for the study recommends that organizing awareness programmes, workshops, modernizing electronic library facilities through proper strategic planning and giving fast internet connectivity for the users will enhance the usage of electronic resources available in the National Library.
