Over one billion people, or sixteen percent of the world's population, experience some form of disability, and disability prevalence is higher in developing countries. This number is increasing due to the rise in non-communicable diseases and longer life expectancy. In Sri Lanka, approximately 8.7 per cent of the population, or 1.6 million people, are identified as persons with disabilities, and many of them stay in rural settings. Persons with disabilities face many limitations in their day-to-day life, such as less education, poorer health outcomes, lower levels of employment, and higher poverty rates. Due to several limitations, many of the Person with Physical Disabilities face many limitations in building and bringing sustainable solutions in their life. This study focuses on identifying the challenges faced by Persons with disabilities in the Northern province. There are five districts located in the study location, and identify the factors that hinder building sustainable life, and provide the necessary facilitation and guidance through professional Social Work intervention.
