Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery in Urogynaecology
Abstract
Pelvic organ prolapse (POP) is a prolapse of one or more of the anterior vaginal wall, posterior vaginal walls, uterus (cervix), and vaginal vault (after hysterectomy). Pelvic reconstructive surgery plays a key role in management of POP. This is subclassified in to different classifications based on the anatomical position and the approach of the surgery. Uterine preserving sugery for uterine prolapse has become more popular during recent decades.
