Abstract

The critical role of psychological capital in shaping organizational outcomes has been widely recognized in the literature. In this study, we examined the effect of CEO psychological capital on service quality delivery in Nigerian healthcare organizations. Specifically, our objective was to explore how key dimensions of psychological capital - hope, optimism, resilience, and self-efficacy - influenced CEOs' service delivery behaviors and, in turn, the overall quality of healthcare services. Data were collected from 150 CEOs across federal medical centres and teaching hospitals in Nigeria’s public health sector and analyzed using regression techniques. The results indicate a significant positive relationship between CEOs' psychological capital and service quality. All the dimensions of psychological capital positively influenced service quality. These findings highlight the strategic importance of fostering psychological capital among CEOs to enhance service delivery. The study recommended among other things that organizations should, prioritize leadership development initiatives aimed at strengthening psychological capital as a means of improving overall service quality.
